PglaA inducible promoter Phytobrick: glucoamylase gene promoter (PglaA) from Aspergillus niger
The Aspergillus a-glucoamylase (GlaA) enzyme is involved in starch utilization. The glaA promoter is induced by starch, maltose, and low concentrations of glucose but repressed by xylose (Fowler, Berka, & Ward, 1990). Basal transcription of glaA requires only 214 bp upstream of the start codon, while a high-level transcription expression requires the upstream region including -562 and -318 bp in the promoter region. The glaA promoters among different Aspergillus species are conserved.
